Stephen Hall Tel: 07877 792969
When: On Tuesday mornings
1st & 3rd Tues 6-10 miles.

The Ramblers is a friendly group which organises walks of varying distances and terrain, from 5-10 miles, though usually 6-7 miles. We walk on the first and third Tuesday of each month, sometimes walking from Jubilee Hall and sometimes car sharing to walks a little further away. We try, when possible, to end the walk with a good lunch.

  • December & Christmas

We had 2 lovely walks in December both of which were cold but blessed with fine weather, in fact on our first walk, which was from The Limes Cafe into Sherwood Pines and return  via the old railway track (we always try to keep on good paths at this time of year to avoid any trips or falls) we needed sunglasses.

This is a super walk any time of year as it is flat and easy going apart from one quite steep incline onto the old rail track, so much so that none of us realised we had done over 8 miles.!

Our second walk was our Christmas fuddle walk so we walked into Clumber Park and up one side of the Lake to stop in the courtyard and enjoy a glass of fizz, some fabulous home made mince pies and sausage rolls and as a throw back to the 70s some cheese and pineapple on sticks which everyone loved.

Our Christmas dinner was on 17th December at the Dukeries Lodge in Edwinstowe where we were looked after very well and had a lovely Christmas meal. A prize was    awarded to Jacqui Petrovic for completing the most Rambles this year and gifts were also given to Maeve Toombs and Laurie       Patterson for leading walks in our absence.

We look forward to trying old favourites and some new walks in 2025.

  • Walkers in November

On bonfire night, the whole group bar one managed to make the walk, it was lovely to see everyone and have a good catch up as we walked from Vicar Water through to the Dog & Duck and then up via Cavendish Lodge to Fishing Lakes and back via the Spa Ponds in Forest Town, returning to Vicar Water for a well-deserved cuppa at the cafe.

A strange thing happened at the cafe.

When Stephen’s Mum passed away, we gave her tea sets to the cafe at Vicar Water as they are always on the lookout for cups and saucers.

We were served our tea in my Mother in Laws tea service, how bizarre!

The snow on 19th November did not deter 6 of us and we walked from Duncan wood into Clumber Park and around the Lake, this is a lovely 6 and half mile walk made even better by the fabulous snowmen who are in situ at different locations around the park.

We will be Rambling again on 03 December and then have our Christmas Dinner to look forward to on the 17th

Clumber Park looked absolutely at its best in the snow.
