Welcome - Dukeries

Dukeries u3a takes its name from the lovely area in North Nottinghamshire known as the Dukeries which includes Sherwood Forest and the villages within it. We are open to all adults. Are you in your middle or senior years and about to retire or recently retired. Or perhaps working full or part-time and just find yourself with time on your hands? Maybe you've recently moved into the area, or your circumstances have changed, and you'd like to make some new friends or take up a new hobby or explore an interest with like-minded people? Then the Dukeries u3a could be the answer.

We are a smaller u3a group giving members the opportunity to get to know people and make true friendships.

Dukeries u3a, registered charity no.1118205, was inaugurated in 1992 and is part of a UK movement which brings together people to develop their interests and continue learning in a friendly and informal environment. There is no commitment to enrol in activities for a specific time period and there are definitely no exams on any specific learning programmes.

Interest and activity groups are varied and include intellectual, recreational and social activities. Groups set up their own programmes and structure and members are encouraged to contribute as much as they are able. A new group can be started at any time, as long as the leader is a Dukeries u3a member and there are sufficient interested members. We are sure that you will find u3a activities interesting, educational and fulfilling.

Monthly Meeting

We have a monthly meeting on the the third Monday of each month at 12.30pm at the Jubilee hall where we have speakers, refreshments, occasional events and seasonal festivities , please search our Events Diary for more information

North Notts Network

Dukeries u3a is a member of the North Notts Neighbourhood Group (NNNG). To enable the widest participation and opportunity to their members, the NNNG have agreed that their members may, where space permits, participate in each other’s interest groups. This means that our members can ask to join an activity group run by any other u3a who participates in NNNG. As well as Dukeries u3a these include Ashfield u3a, Mansfield & District u3a, Forest Town u3a, Rainworth & District u3a, Retford u3a, Sherwood u3a, Sutton in Ashfield u3a, Warsop u3a Worksop u3a and Bolsover u3a. Please note that joining another u3a group depends on whether a space is available in that group. Each u3a will first give priority booking to its own members.

Membership fees

Our annual membership fee is now £20 which will take you up to 31 March 2027. Those who have full membership of another u3a can join as associate members of Dukeries u3a for £10. For those experiencing financial hardship the committee is able to offer concessions on their membership by reducing or waiving the membership fee. For a taster of what we do you can attend our monthly meeting or an activity group twice for just £1 each time to help you decide to join. We look forward to seeing you soon.
