The Dukeries U3A Play Reading Group has just celebrated its first birthday, having enjoyed more than 16 plays in our first year together! Our lively mix of comedy, drama, and classic theatre has included favourites such as The Importance of Being Earnest, The Mousetrap, A Murder Is Announced, Abigail’s Party, Under Milk Wood, Hobson’s Choice, Brief Encounter, ’Allo ’Allo!, and Hi-de-Hi! — to name just a few.
We meet twice a month to bring scripts to life in a relaxed, good-humoured setting. There’s no acting experience required — just a willingness to join in, read aloud, and share plenty of laughs along the way.
As we enter our second year, we’re also branching out into performing home-grown scripts written by our own members — giving a creative twist to our play reading adventures!
