  RAF Cosford Museum

  We had the most enjoyable day out with Ashfield U3A, visiting the aircraft museum at RAF Cosford. There is an impressive collection of British and German aircraft together with simulators and immersive experiences to try. We actually experienced the feeling of flying with the Red Arrows in a 4D experience (which did not make you feel queasy!) We had two interesting talks from volunteers who were full of facts and deeply personal stories to bring the planes, and our heroes, back to life.

  On display are the world’s oldest Spitfire, as well as a Hurricane, Gladiator, Messerschmitt Me 109, Junkers Ju88, newly restored Vickers Wellington and the Bristol Blenheim. We also skimmed through the selection of more recent flying machines in the Cold War museum

  We finished the day with a drop into David Austen Roses for refreshments and shopping.

  A super day out, and we will be speaking with the other members of the Events Team to suggest we organise a trip in 2027

  Scarborough Seaside - afternoon pictures

  Oh I do like to be beside the seaside ...

  After our fabulous morning at the Fair we nipped up by coach to the South bay at Scarborough, most people started the afternoon with fish and chips at one of the many chippies and restaurants on offer, everyone seemed to have a delicious meal washed down with beers and wine and cider. with strolls along the promenade and paddles in the sea where the beach was very busy with holidaymakers enjoying the magnificent weather. More food was consumed with Cockles, Doughnuts, Milkshakes and numerous ice creams before we had to board the coach for the ride home.
